Hazard: I can be one of the best in the world

Eden Hazard insists he is not
one of the five best players
in the world, but feels he is
close to it and will improve to
become one.
Hazard, who netted 17 goals in all competitions for
Chelsea last term, has been influential in the Blues’
unbeaten start to the new Premier League campaign.
Last month it was reported that the Belgium
international is on the verge of signing a new five-
year-contract at Stamford Bridge, with a total
package believed to be worth around €250,000-a-
week.
But the 23-year-old believes he must still improve in
order to be considered on the same level as the likes
of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
“I’m not a top-five player yet,” Hazard told reporters.
“Maybe I’m close to it, but I still have to work on
some aspects.
“You can only be part of that group if you are decisive
in the top games. I start doing that, like I did against
Manchester City and Arsenal.
“Who are better than me? The two extra-terrestrials,
Ronaldo and Messi, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Franck Ribery
and Arjen Robben. They make the difference almost
every game.
“My World Cup wasn’t good, neither bad. [Belgium
fans] expected from me that I would make the
difference every game, like Messi does for Argentina.
You can’t forget this was my first World Cup and I’ve
been decisive two times.”
Hazard has been continually linked with a move to
Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain, who were knocked
out of the Champions League by Chelsea at the
quarter-final stage last season.
However, the former Lille player has reiterated he has
no interest in returning to the French top flight.
“I’ve always been clear – I feel good at Chelsea,” he
added. “Every week I repeat the same on PSG. It’s a
big team, but an inferior league. I don’t want to return
to France, because I’ve won everything over there –
the league title, cup, best player, best young player.
“I don’t want to say PSG is a step backwards, but it
would be returning to something I already know. I’m
always in for new challenges. When I will leave
Chelsea one day, it would be to discover something
new.”
